It's something I've been thinking about since I launched my website last year, then of course it made it to the top of the 2010 goal list... so now it's time to check it off! Choo Choo {Meridian Idaho Child Photographer}

This boy love, love, loves trains. I don't think a day ever goes by that he doesn't play with or talk about trains. He agreed to let me take a few pictures as long as he could have his trains with him :). I love seeing those little lips forming his famous "choo, choo".

Meet Samantha, a gorgeous Eagle High School Senior... she was a natural and I had a wonderful time with her and her mom taking her senior photos.

Her mom was awesome and lugged the saddle to our perfect spot. I don't often shoot in full sun because it's so harsh, but I loved her morning glow in this shot!

Just Like kids in a Candy Store {Meridian Idaho Child Photographer}

Literally... kids in a candy store! And cute kids to boot :). Does it get much better than that? I was able get together with a couple of local Boise area photographers at and photograph three adorable children at the new candy shop in Meridian. Thanks to the talented Julie, for volunteering the models.

I think since I have a lack of little girls in to photograph in my personal life, I was drawn to these two cuties dressed in bright colors, but I did also snap of few of their handsome big brother too!

I realize this one doesn't necessarily look like a shot from a candy shop, but I just loved her expression and the black and white fit so nicely.

Three reasons...

... (of the many) that I love my THREE year old...
1) He is my little helper. Until just recently I used to joke that he was "the best little helper who ever got in your way" because his "help" was usually more of a hindrance. But lately, I'm finding that he's actually helpful... he loves to help me sort the boys laundry into piles of who it belongs to before we fold it, unload the dishwasher, and run and get things for me. I could get used to this, but I probably better not :).
2) He's starting to be such a story teller. You never know what he'll say or where it comes from, but it cracks me up! Today it was, "grandma and grandpa got stuck in the farmhouse and a dragon couldn't get in to save them".... and on and on.
3) He has the most handsome little face and cute curly hair!
He turned three at the beginning of this month and I've been meaning to get out and take some photos, but the cold and wet kept us in for a while, but I'm determined to do it soon... so more to come! In the meantime, here's a quick snap of my sweet boy from yesterday. I actually love this shot and love that when I look at it, I also think of our home! Over the holidays, I had the pleasure of photographing the J fam again... remember Haylee from this summer? Here's Handsome little Jonah at 2 months old!
It was BITTER cold outside and poor Jonah was freezing, so we only last for a few quick snaps outside...

Such a sweet baby boy... he has tons of blonde hair, which I feel like you don't see as often and it was so cute!

2009 in Review...

I had a fantastic first year with Photography by AmyLynn! I started officially "in business" in April and have been able to photograph so many wonderful people in 2009. Thank you for your continued support and your trust in me to capture your memories! I loved looking back at photos from the year - I had indoor outdoor, urban, and rustic sessions, Utah and Idaho sessions, freezing cold sessions, crazy kiddos during sessions :), but most of all lots of fun doing it all! Here is just a sampling of some of my favorite photos from 2009.

I will have some exciting announcements coming up after the new year; but you can still book sessions now for next year. Here's to a great 2010!

Final Family of the year...

As my last family session of the season I had the pleasure of photographing my friend and fellow photographer, Kim, and her adorable family. We swapped family photos this year and it was great! I know Kim had it a lot harder than me - getting FOUR kiddos looking good, but it all came together so well. She's super talented and she ended up making parts of almost everyone's outfits or altering shirts into dresses/jackets/etc. So fun!

They're going to be in trouble with these three pretty girls! Good thing baby brother came along so he can protect them all :)...

It's been such a great year! I'm done with sessions until the New Year, but starting next week I'll be posting some of a favorite from all my sessions in 2009! Stay tuned :)

This was SUCH a fun session! We had several outfit changes and lots of fun things to mix it up so there are lots of photos that I love. I know the families of these adorable kiddos are excited to see a preview... and how could I make them wait with cuties like this? So here's a little peek. I might have to post more again later!

(hmmmm... not sure why this first one is showing up funky - could it be because it's after midnight and I did something wierd? Likely. But I must go to bed and it try in the morning, because my kiddos seem to have missed the memo about daylight savings time meaning an EXTRA hour and it's been killing me all week.)

Sweet baby K was freezing by the end, but she sure put up with it great!

T & M are "double cousins" (their moms are sisters and their dads are brothers - how fun is that?!) and are SO funny together. The minute they got out of their cars they were so excited to see each other.

One of my favorite parts of my job is that I get to hang out with fun families and watch them together... This family was super cute and full of energy! They all had beautiful eyes and beautiful smiles too... both favorites for this photographer!!!

I cursed the wind all day long begging it to stop blowing my leaves off the trees, but luckily we still found some beautiful color...

The N family were such great sports about the cold weather during our session... especially poor little miss who was shivering away! It did seem to warm up a bit in the middle of the shoot, but not for long! At least the Idaho wind gave us a break and we didn't have to get blown away too :).

I had so much fun with this stinkin' cute family!! Jenna was one of my sister's best friends growing up and I always thought she was darling... well, in the last couple of years we've both ended up on the same side of Idaho and I was excited when she contacted me for a session! Their little guy is one of those babies that sees you and instantly makes you feel special by giving you a huge smile --looking at his mom and dad it's no wonder that little J has such a killer smile!

J was so excited to "ride" the bike in the streets of Boise!

Fall...

Where did September go? I love this time of year, but it's flying by too quickly! Thanks to everyone who has taken advantage of the Fall Special and booked sessions for the upcoming months. The Fall Special of a discounted session fee and complimentary 8x10 print from your session ends October 5th. Why October 5th.... well it's my birthday of course and we want to spread the love until then!! Fall Special applies to any session booked before October 5 to be completed before the end of November, so if you're thinking about family photos before the holidays, now is the time. I still have weekday sessions available for the last weeks of October, but Saturdays are full until November. Call or email me if you're interested in a session!

We had the most fantabulous (that's a word, I'm sure) few days of Indian Summer in the Tetons this past weekend. Even my typically difficult to photograph 2-year-old was so happy he LET me take his picture and was being a total ham laughing it up and giving me all his crazy faces! A few weeks ago I cam across a fun new blog for photogrophers called {the Savvy Photographer}... they feature great new products, tips, spotlight amazing photographers from around the country, etc. I've really enjoyed it. This week they're giving away a spot at what sounds like a great workshop in November.

I love any opportunity to learn more - especially when it's photography related, and this workshop sounds amazing!!! Here's hoping I'm the big winner :)

Okay, no more teasers... This was a such a fun session for me because Staci is a wonderful old friend and it's always great to see her and her good looking little family. Their little Miss M is ADORABLE and has the most beautiful brown eyes. --Although, she was having a love hate relationship with us this particular morning. I was cracking up as I proofed these because there would be alternating smiles/frowns/smiles/frowns! But there are lots of her beautiful, happy face!!

Side note: Who knew that being a photographer was such a dangerous profession? Or maybe a better question would be... who knew that I was such a klutz? {don't answer that}. I might have to add to my client information that "you should be prepared to see Amy trip, stumble or otherwise make a fool of herself". Because at my last few shoots I've fallen backward as I was squatting down in some weeds, at another session I rolled my ankle and got road rash all over my shin. I guess I get so caught up in getting the perfect shot that I don't pay enough attention to everything else.

I know that in my last post I was singing Idaho's praises... but I'm sorry to say it has nothing on Cache Valley (Utah). I was lucky enough to meet up with Kayli and Brett for a morning session - they were great and this location was beautiful. These guys were so easy to photograph! If I told you this was an engagement session, you would totally believe me, right? Well, it's not... they've been married for years and have four kids. FOUR. (Kayli look you way too good to have four kids). But they wanted some pictures of just the two of them together. I thought that was so nice... It seems like once kids come along pictures of just you and your spouse are hard to come by! Anyway, on to the pictures...

I realized as I was posting these, that I had only one photo that I really liked more in black and white... I tend to be more of a color girl anyway, but especially in this session, I just loved the colors of the grasses, mountains and Kayli's amazingly beautiful red hair!!!

Kayli also needed a photo of just her and this one was one of my favorites...

I was so excited to find such a variety of awesome locations all so close together. It had me feeling lucky to live in Idaho. But even more than that, I was happy to be photographing this beautiful bride, Charly. She had the greatest bride style - low key, beautiful and totally classic. Plus, she was a natural in front of the camera! Her dress was her moms, and her grandma altered it for her. It was so pretty on Charly and I just loved that it had such a history and meant so much to her.

They live in TN and we don't get to see them as often as we'd like, but we were able to spend a week together this month and we couldn't let the week pass with out some photos of pregnancy numero dos. This family is so beautiful, inside and out. And they were the best to photograph! I probably should break this into two posts, but instead, I'll just give you fair warning -- I'm sharing a ton of pictures!!

It was a super fun session and there are just so many that I love.... Four kids for family photos and they were all wonderful - not one breakdown, no pouting-- they were just awesome (not to mention so stinkin' cute)! And we had such a variety of locations I just have to share a bunch :)

This baby boy is the most beautiful little guy (you can say that about a boy until their at least 2-yrs-old right?) and absolutely SWEET and laid back.

And here's a preview of what he'll look like in a few years... handsome, right?

They were so excited for their lollipops... and so was I :)
We were having so much fun with the suckers, we didn't realize how late it was getting, so jumped in the car and raced up the hill to this beautiful field... they were such good sports to run with me to the top. We only had moments before it was too dark, but we made the most of them.

And we ended on a comedic note - how cute are these 'staches? They were pretty dang funny!

Super Senior...

This is Scotty.
He's one cool guy. Handsome. Funny. Nice... all those "good guy" things. Plus he's my baby brother, so I like him even more. He leaves for a mission in West Africa this week so it was great to get some senior-esque/pre-mission pictures of him before he leaves. He's a "super senior" because really he graduated last year (shhhhh), but didn't have pictures.

I think taking and editing the pictures must suck all the creative out of me, because I can't ever decide what to title my posts :)! I was excited about taking family pictures for Crystal and Jake... I know I say that about all the people I photograph, but I mean it! I knew Crystal from way back when and it was fun to see her as a cute mom of these adorable kiddos. Plus, I got to take these in beautiful Midway, which is always a treat!

Miss K tried to give me a run for my money, but I snuck in a few of that darling smile!

And I kept telling this little guy that he was a rockstar! He was so good the whole time...

Are you seeing a pattern? I've photographed FIVE families in the past three months that have had a 2-year-old and a baby between 4 and 6 months old. It's been a ton of fun, but also a lot of work! All of the kiddos have been absolutely adorable and really very sweet, but they all share one thing in common - they all have their minds set on making me work for it :). I wouldn't have it any other way!

I've been traveling this week (lots and lots of driving!!) but I wanted to post some pictures from this family session with Mike and Megan and their cute boys! It was so much fun to see them... we had some very, ummmm, 'interesting' weather -- crazy wind, rain and thunder. But there were a few breaks and we managed to get some great pictures of them! They are such an adorable family. I had fun watching them since both of our older boys are almost the same age and our baby boys were born on the exact same day!

Okay, so I realize this picture below is not a perfectly posed portrait... but I love it! I always like to have a mix of "real life" with the more traditional portraits. And I think I love this one so much because it captured exactly what they wanted to be doing -- Blake kept doing that cute little thing with his tongue and he loved throwing rocks, while little Zack just wanted to munch them!

This little guys is ADORABLE... and his faces were so expressive, he had me cracking up.

Okay, so I know I said I loved photographing couples and brides... but I also really, really loved this session. So now I'm adding "seniors" to my love list! Miss Chelsea is beautiful, and lots of fun... and there were just way too many photos of her that I wanted to share. Nobody minds lots of pictures though, right? She's headed off to USU in the fall, which just makes her that much cooler - go Aggies! She's going to have all the boys chasing her!

I loved everything about Alyse and Landon's wedding... it made me want to get married again (to the same person of course ;)) just to be able to pick a dress, a location, food, decor, etc. It was the most picturesque location and just a really lovely evening.

The word stunning may be slightly overused when it comes to brides, but that's all I could think of when I saw Alyse in her wedding dress. I LOVE taking pictures of couples and especially brides... I think I could do it every day and never get tired of it. There's something about taking pictures of people who are in love and in the case of brides, people who feel pretty. And let's be honest, it's hard not to feel pretty in a gorgeous dress... especially when you look like her :)

Remember sweet, new little Hudson from a few months ago? Well, we headed downtown for some fun with the whole fam to get an updated group shot with everyone. They were great sports and thanks to my bribery Liza did pretty great too. Chocolate chips and mini marshmallows go a long way with a busy two-year-old!

This is one of my faves... totally unplanned, but Miss Liza Lou kept walking straight toward me and I finally got her to stop long enough to get this shot. Isn't she a beauty?!

And of course, it just wouldn't be the same with out a couple of the little lovebirds :)

I had a lot of fun with this family and their little girls were absolutely adorable!! Their oldest son is leaving on a mission this month, so they wanted to get some family photos before he was gone. Mom is actually like 5-6 months pregnant... doesn't she look great? We were lucky to get a nice evening that was actually warm... Now if only we could get some consistently nice weather around here!

This was take 2 of an engagement session for Alyse and Landon since we didn't have long the first time around. They're such good sports and up for anything... gotta love that! I'm reserving a few of their very favorites so their announcement photo won't be spoiled, but we got lots that I really like!

I was excited when we pulled up to our more "rustic" location and Alyse whipped out her cowboy boots from the back of the car... they were perfect for this spot!

And just for fun.... I'm pretty sure any couple who can do this must be meant for each other :)

Her mom and I actually went to HS together and she happened upon my site through the magic of the internet and just happens to be living very near by. I was honored to be asked to be a part of Jamie and Nate's wedding day. They are such a great couple and Jamie was a gorgeous bride!! It was a beautiful warm day for March. The sun part made things a bit more difficult, but they were so easy to work with we still got lots of good ones.

Cute, cute Liza... she just turned two this week (and like most 2-year-olds, she never stops moving!) Just a quick post before we run out of town for the weekend cause I know her mom is anxious :). I took these yesterday and here are a couple of my favorites from my initial look through them!

On a sort of unrelated side note... I'm not sure if it's just my version of Firefox or what, but many of my pictures post looking very "cool" -- with green or bluish hues -- but if you click to enlarge you get the brighter version. Very weird.

Wouldn't you swear his eyes were going to be blue? I learned with Easton not to guess too soon, but sometimes Noah's eyes are SOOOO blue!

We tried to catch cute little Jackson in the afternoon right after his nap, thinking he'd be in a good mood... which he was until we tried to trap him to take pictures :) He's such a handsome boy with the greatest eyes. The only problem was that he didn't want to smile for me and did better when he had a "distraction" is his hands so those got in the pictures too.

"Hello, this is Jackson, can somebody get me outta here??"

I told you.. awesome blue eyes!
